Who are Sage Pay? Identity Alarm has chosen Sage Pay as a partner for its secure server software. Sage Pay is a leading payment system provider to online businesses. For further information about Sage Pay please visit their web site at http://www.sagepay.com. (Note: Prior to April 2009, Sage Pay traded under the brand name 'Protx'. Protx has been a division of the much larger Sage (UK) Limited since 2006, ever since they were acquired by Sage Group plc. Protx provided secure payment services for online businesses since 2001, and the Sage Group has been in business since 1981.)

Are transactions via Identity Alarm safe? Communication between you, us and Sage Pay is encrypted using the SSL mechanism that is built into your browser. This ensures that even if someone were able to monitor the traffic between you and the Sage Pay server, they would not be able to read it. Encryption is used on all pages within the purchasing process, making your transactions with Identity Alarm as safe as possible.

How do we protect your Data? The Sage Pay software sits behind a corporate firewall. Access to this machine is strictly controlled, preventing unauthorized access to your personal data. Once you have passed your payment card details to Identity Alarm, they are stored on the Sage Pay server in an encrypted format.

Do you check for fraudulent cards? When we receive your payment card details, an on-line check of your payment card is conducted with the acquiring bankers. This process ensures that the number you entered corresponds to a real card number and is not a bogus card. The Sage Pay system also checks various "Hot Card lists" to ensure that no fraudulent use is being made of any card. This on-line verification of your details is carried out over a secure line to the bank. Payment card data is, at no time, sent over the Internet during the validation process.
