1. How and when can I view my credit report and previous alerts?

Members have unlimited access to their own credit report as well as any historical alerts during their time as a member. This information can be viewed online via the 'View Credit Report and Previous Alerts' button, which is displayed in the Members Area of the Identity Alarm website. Please note that an additional sign in process is also required in order to view your credit report and alerts information.

2. Who else can gain access to view my credit report?

When you apply for loans, mortgages, credit cards, or any other credit accounts, your credit history may be viewed by the lender with your consent. It can also be viewed by other organisations that have a legitimate reason to do so. However, your credit report contains details of credit searches, and so you will be able to see whenever an organisation has viewed your credit report.

3. Can other members of my family, or friends, use the Identity Alarm service?

Membership of the service is provided on an individual basis only. However, please feel free to tell your friends and family about Identity Alarm so that they can also sign up and see the benefits for themselves.

4. What do I do if I think that there is information on my report that needs to be corrected?

Only you or the appropriate organisations with whom your credit accounts are held can effect changes or corrections to your records. If you believe that there are errors with your credit report then you can contact the dedicated team at Experian on 0844 481 8005, who will be able to advise you further.

5. What is the source of the information for my credit report?

When you view your credit report online you will see the credit information that is held by Experian. The confidential information on your credit report is never shared with outside organisations unless this is with your permission, eg: by an organisation with whom you are intending to open a new credit account, or if it is required by law.

6. Does my information remain confidential?

Your information remains confidential between you, Experian and the organisations with whom your credit accounts are held.

7. Do you keep copies of my credit report?

No. The information is maintained by Experian and remains confidential between you and them.

8. What information is held on my credit report?

Details of active accounts, including up to three years history, are contained in your credit report. Other accounts will usually remain on your credit report for six years after they have been settled.

9. How do I change my registered email address or telephone number details?

You can change your email address or telephone number details yourself within the 'Change of Details Request' section of the Identity Alarm Members Area. Please note that for changes to your home address, or your name, then you will need to click on the link in the 'Change of Details Request' section that is entitled 'Attached Form' in order to print off a Change of Details form. This needs to be posted, along with copies of evidence, to the address that is shown at the bottom of the form in order for the changes to be validated and processed.

This is where your very own personal Identity Alarm becomes invaluable to bring your attention to these changes and to enable you to distinguish activity that you initiated, from that which has been made as a result of attempted identity theft. Identity Alarm will provide you with regular updates detailing any significant changes to your credit report via email or text. In addition, you will have unlimited online access to view your own credit report. You can also rest assured that you are in safe hands, as all of this process is powered by Experian, the UK’s leading credit reference agency.
